Earliest Numbered F.P. Journe Résonance Chronomètre à Résonance Surfaces For Auction
Phillips will auction the first commercially sold Chronomètre à Résonance in November 2026.
Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo will offer the earliest commercially numbered F.P. Journe Chronomètre à Résonance ever to reach auction. The pre-production model, which bears the serial number 022/99R, will be auctioned at The Geneva Watch Auction: XXIV on 7 and 8 November 2026.
Fresh to the market from its original owner after 27 years, the 38mm platinum watch carries an estimate of CHF 500,000 to 1,000,000.
When the Chronomètre à Résonance launched in 2000, the first 20 examples, numbered 001 to 020, had already been reserved for supporters of François-Paul Journe’s earlier Tourbillon Souverain “Souscription.”
Journe kept 021 as his own presentation piece, leaving 022 as the first watch actually sold. The case itself was ordered in 1999, a full year ahead of the model’s official debut, and its owner chose the number to match his date of birth.
Beyond its provenance, 022/99R carries the traits collectors of early Journe watches look for: a pink gold dial with silver-toned sub-dials, brass movement, and shallow caseback engravings typical of the pre-production run, of which only an estimated 10 examples are known to exist.
The watch arrives as F.P. Journe’s auction results continue to climb. During Phillips’ 2026 spring season, three Résonance watches sold above the model’s usual range: “Souscription No. 007” for US$13.9 million, “Souscription No. 18” for US$6.3 million, and the “Pisa” for US$3 million.
